For tomorrow's special board meeting and moving forward, we will accept public comment via Zoom in real time for those who are unable to attend in-person. In other words, we will call on raised hands in Zoom during public comment in addition to taking public comments in person. If you are unable to attend tomorrow's meeting because it begins at 9:00 a.m. and you would like to make public comment and can't attend the Zoom meeting either, you are welcome to email your public comment to bbarnhart@msusd.org, and we will read your comment during the item it relates to.

There will be a family input meeting on Tuesday, March 15, regarding student achievement, unmet needs, and items to include in our Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). This is your chance to make sure we hear your opinions about what you'd like to see in our district that will have a positive impact on students. The meeting will be in-person in the district office board room, and we will stream it using Google Meet as well. People streaming will be able to tell us their thoughts and ask questions as well as those in attendance. We hope you will consider joining us. Members of the public are also invited to submit written comments regarding the specific actions and expenditures proposed in the LCAP. The link to the meeting for those not attending in-person is here: http://meet.google.com/kev-mbjy-mzi

The board meeting on March 8 will be held in-person at the Sisson gym. We are also continuing to live stream the meeting via Zoom for those who can't attend in person. People attending the meeting and wishing to make public comment can do so with no notification requirements. To avoid technical difficulties, those who can't attend in-person but who would like to make public comment must email their comment with the agenda item number to bbarnhart@msusd.org by 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8. When the item arrives during the meeting, we will call on the individual to raise their hand via Zoom, and we will hear their comment. If a technical glitch arises and we can't hear the person, we will read the comment that was already emailed in. We will not call on any raised hands on Zoom that didn't already email bbarnhart@msusd.org before 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8.

Today, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) updated how it determines what constitutes transmission levels of COVID-19. According to their updated website, “Levels can be low, medium, or high and are determined by looking at hospital beds being used, hospital admissions, and the total number of new COVID-19 cases in an area.” Siskiyou County is currently in the “High” level. Here is the link to the website: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/your-health/covid-by-county.html On Monday, February 28, the governor tells us he will unveil his announcement on his update to the school mask mandate. Our policies state that we will follow the guidelines released by the CDC and the CA Department of Public Health (CDPH). Because our policy is to follow the recommendations of the CDC and the CDPH, the moves by the CDC and the governor will largely determine how we move forward with our COVID protocols. We will keep our educational partners informed of the state-level changes and how they may affect our own decisions.

At-home test kits are available for students from your school's office. Currently, the limit is one box (two tests in the box) per student. If you are interested, please contact your child's school office, and we can arrange to send it home or have someone come pick it up.
